The projects fall under various categories (A1, A2, B3, B4) according to their environmental impact. Depending on their classification, the competent authority which examines the case and gives the "development consent", might be the Ministry of Environment, the Regional Office or the Prefecture of a Region. The authorities that examine each category are listed below: A1---> Ministry of Environment A2---> Regional Office B3--->A draft study has to be sent to the Regional Office, where it is decided whether it has to be examined by the Regional Office itself or the Prefecture B4---> Prefecture
